Freestyle Figure Skating

Program Info

What is a freestyle session? A Freestyle session allows figure skaters to practice and train advanced skating skills, jumps and spin techniques and choreography. There are specific rules, as well as protocol and etiquette (see below), that must be adhered to so that all skaters can make the most of these sessions.

A skater does not need to be accompanied by a coach to utilize a freestyle session, though many skaters have private lessons during a freestyle session.

Freestyle sessions are different from public sessions.

In order to practice on freestyle ice, skaters must have passed at least Basic 6 skill level which includes forward/backward crossovers, turning between backward and forward and the ability to stop from speed. (Does not apply to skaters who are taking a private lesson with an authorized Coach during the freestyle session).

Everyone on a freestyle session actually knows how to skate and tries to stay out of other people’s way. It is important to stay aware of your surroundings and stay out of the way of other skaters/coaches. Part of the “given” during a freestyle session is that all skaters have complete control of what they are doing, but also an awareness of what is going on around them.

Rules

We want all figure skaters to enjoy their freestyle time at the Kotler Arena. Please read the rules below so that skaters can practice in a safe manner. Should you have any concerns or questions contact Angie via email: Rink@tetonvalleyfoundation.org.

Dates: Select Fridays 4:00-5:00. 11/17, 11/24, 12/15, 12/29, 1/19, 2/2.

Addmission: $20
