Dear Ice community,

First let me say that the board, staff, and I feel your frustration so deeply.  Even though the circumstances surrounding the chillers are out of control, we are truly sorry that you have not been able to enjoy the rink this past week. We know that you all make a financial and time commitment to the ice rink and it is disappointing to not be able to skate.

Here is the scoop:

There is excess moisture in the cooling system which is a complication that can happen sometimes during the start-up process.  Our cooling system partners are working around the clock to resolve the issue.

What’s the plan for opening?

Unfortunately we are not sure yet.  We are making decisions on a day to day basis. The good news is that the chillers made some improvements today in terms of drying out due to using a different technique.  The board and our construction partners will be meeting tomorrow morning to make a plan and we will update you as soon as we know the details.

In the meantime, you will notice that we have been open in the mornings for our Wintersports programs thanks to cold overnight temperatures, but we have not been able to remain open in the afternoons due to melting as temps rise throughout the day.

We will NOT be open tomorrow afternoon, (Thursday Feb 16), although we will be open in the morning for Wintersports.

Please continue to check our facebook page and website for updates because it’s a moving target on a daily basis. We wish we could give you more advanced notice but we would prefer to NOT cancel multiple days at a time because we want to open as soon as we possibly can!

Thank you for your patience and your willingness to take the long view which is that once we get this resolved we will finally have chillers.

With Gratitude,

Erica Linnell
